Our Meetings

Breaking of Bread

On a Sunday morning, when we meet together to break bread, everything is centered on our Lord Jesus Christ, so that in all things He may have the highest place (Colossians 1:18). The elements on the communion table, the bread and the cup, are symbols of the body and blood of our Saviour (Matthew 26:26-28). The purpose of this meeting is to remember, adore, worship and pay tribute to our Lord (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). The order of the meeting is very simple. Various men will take part as they are led by the Holy Spirit. Some may suggest a hymn to sing, some may read an appropriate Scripture and others may express worship, appreciation, praise or thanksgiving to the Lord in prayer. There may also be times of silent meditation, as we reflect on our precious Saviour. The service culminates in the breaking of the bread and the taking of the cup in remembrance of Christ’s death.

All are welcome to attend this Breaking of Bread meeting. Those who have put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation and who are seeking to live a life that is honouring and pleasing to God are welcome to participate in taking the bread and cup. If you have not yet received the free gift of salvation from our Lord Jesus Christ, or if you simply do not understand this type of meeting, please do not feel embarrassed to just pass the bread and cup without participating (1 Corinthians 11:27-29).
